Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21 1982. Maggie Grace is an American actor best known for her character Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. After her parents' divorce, she left Worthington Ohio in order to settle at Los Angeles. They were struggling to make ends meet and was offered her first role in acting in Rachel's Room's leading character. In the following year, she was awarded an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder set in Greenwich. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost where she was the main cast member for the first two seasons. She was also awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. After leaving the show, Grace wanted to appear as a film actress, and had played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She appeared as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken 2008) as Suburban Girl as well as The Jane Austen Book Club. The role was reprised in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role on Lost for two episodes. This included the series final. In 2013, she appears in the episode Californianation of the 6th Season. The character she plays is Faith she is an admirer and muse to the stars. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager she appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also co-starred with her older sister in Donnie Darko the popular cult movie. In 2002, she was featured as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performances as the lead in the romantic erotic comedy Secretary (2002) and in the dramatic Sherrybaby (2006) each of which brought her a Golden Globe Award nomination. After several commercially successful films in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received wider recognition for playing Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In 2009, she was recognized as the Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mother in Crazy Heart. After that she continued to star in comedies as well as dramas such Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Won't Back Down (12). Her other roles are as an agent of the Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a singer in Frank 2014, and the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, in which she plays the main role. Gyllenhaal made her debut as a director and writer in 2021, with her psycho-drama The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award.
